So the drama to save the General's life continues...
UPDATE: The meeting a few weeks ago went well and the zoning commission decided that we were allowed to own up to two roosters as pets on our property (YEAH!!) but they had no authority to handle any issues brought up about the rooster regarding being a "nuisance".
PRESENT: So... since our neighbor is anti confrontational and juvenile (to put it nicely) he continued to call the police threatening to sue them if they didn't deal with the "nuisance of the rooster". His wife went so far as to write a nasty letter to the Police chief requesting his home phone number so she can call him at 5am and wake him up when the rooster is crowing...unbelievable!!! Technically the nuisance law is a bit vague stating that "nobody may do anything that continually disturbs/bothers the public" but WHO is the public...one neighbor?!?! I think NOT!! We received another letter from the police chief last Saturday stating that we had to get rid of the roosters or take this to the Town Board or a Judge. Because Mom and Dad are not going to give-up on the General that easily, they went to the Town Board meeting last night to plead their case. Mom said she thinks it went well and the board seems to want to keep the "country" style of life in our area but they will not make a decision until next month. SO... the General has at least one more month to live and our neighbors will be able to enjoy his beautiful voice for 30 more mornings ; Sweet Joy ;-)!
You've got to be kidding me. Can you oust your new neighbor for being a nuisance to the neighborhood?
